LEARNING SELF-LOVE & AGING GRACEFULLY

In the past few months I have found a new pattern of being rather hard on myself. I have noticed lines on my face, a bit of sagging in my knees, an ache in my back. Ouch! Are these the signs of aging?  I haven’t missed a week of working out in over 20 years. I have been eating healthy, organic and nutritious foods for that long as well. Did I think aging was going to skip me?  Well, as a matter of fact, yes I did, kinda, sort of.

I have said unkind things to myself about my body that I would rather not repeat. I know better. I teach this stuff for goodness sake. What is happening to me? I am learning and growing each step of the way just like you. I am a human becoming on a journey, and I am entering a new chapter of my life.

If you have ever felt like me, please join me in lifting yourself up, respecting and loving yourself and being a little more gentle with yourself. Like me, you are a divine being, you are a miracle and you are here for a purpose. Make a vow to lift yourself up and to love yourself, to stop the madness and embrace the now.

My New Commitments:

ACCEPT MYSELF EXACTLY AS I AM

My new commitment is to be gentle with myself, to accept myself exactly as I am, my age and the journey I am on.  With this new commitment, I vow to not criticize others, to not compare myself to other women and to know we are all divine spirits on our own paths.  It is not a competition. I am here to fulfill my own spiritual contract and so are you.

AFFIRM MY MAGNIFICENCE -RESPECT MY SELF & MY BODY

My new commitment is to put an end to the self-criticism. I am vowing to say kind and loving things to myself and to my body. I know that when I truly love and accept myself that my life is easier and things go my way.  Every day I will look at my reflection in the mirror and tell myself that I am a divine and magnificent woman who is worthy of great things.

FOCUS ON WHAT I CONTROL

I know that I have no control over the passing of time and that I am aging, I only have control over how I react to it. I know that I am responsible for my experience and that if I start to make a habit out of criticizing myself that it will show in my life, in my body and in my experiences. I vow to focus on thoughts that empower and lift me up. I vow to embrace my age, every line, and all the changes that come with it.

GROW MY SPIRITUALITY & MY CONNECTION TO THE UNIVERSE

I vow to grow my spirit, the part of me that never ages and to see myself not as a human being having a spiritual experience, but as a spiritual being having a human experience. When I pay attention to the spark of light within me, and I stay present and mindful of what is happening right now, I feel a lightness in my step and the love in my heart.

I laugh to myself sometimes and I think, “Michele, if you are hard on yourself now, what is going to happen in 10 years?”  In 10 years I will look back at pictures of myself and see how beautiful I really was. I am not talking about being arrogant. I am just talking about being accepting, respectful and grateful for where I am right now in my life.  Please join me on my quest to embrace life right now.
